General Capital Improvements Fund
Also known as: Capital Improvements Fund, Fund 501
General Fund money set aside for capital projects — buildings, infrastructure, and equipment — rather than day-to-day operations.
Each year the City transfers some General Fund money into this fund (Fund 501) to pay for capital projects: facilities, building improvements, and similar one-time investments. Once the money is here it is committed to capital work and is no longer available for General Fund operating costs like salaries or programs. Many of the City's building and facility projects draw from it.
