Water Capital Improvements Fund
Also known as: Water Enterprise Fund, Fund 600
Water-rate revenue set aside for water-system capital projects; it cannot pay for anything other than water work.
Menlo Park runs its water utility as an "enterprise" — it pays for itself from the rates customers pay, kept separate from the General Fund. This fund (Fund 600) holds water revenue dedicated to water capital projects such as the Emergency Water Storage and Supply project, water main replacements, and reservoir pump upgrades. By law it can only fund water work, so it cannot help close the General Fund deficit.
